Hi Friends of Colorado's Rivers, We are very pleased to see the City of Aspen…
Colorado River Update: If you’re depressed about the Colorado River, read this short post for inspiration!
Good Monday Morning, Friends of the Colorado River,
You can’t look at the news any day and not see depressing stories about the Colorado River. Doom, gloom, and chaos permeates the whole issue and every media story about it. Well, we’re changing the narrative to be about taking aggressive action and inspiration!
Take a quick read of the op-ed I wrote in the Colorado Sun on Friday, April 3rd, in which I point out that our organization is fighting hard to not only protect, but restore, the Colorado River on the West Slope of Colorado and downstream through the Grand Canyon.
In fact, Save The Colorado is the ONLY environmental organization in Colorado State Water Court litigating for the largest instream flow, in the biggest water court battle, in Colorado history!
Further, we’re in the fight with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation as well, arguing for more water to flow downstream through the Grand Canyon.
If you think it’s all doom and gloom with people and groups sitting on their hands, then take a read of this op-ed. It’s going to be a fascinating year and we are in the River paddling full speed to ride the rapids.
The Colorado Sun op-ed is posted here: https://coloradosun.com/2026/04/03/opinion-colorado-river-battle-front-range-western-slope/
