VICTORY! Federal Judge Rules That Army Corp Violated Environmental Laws With Permit for Denver Water’s Gross Dam Project!

Hi Amazing Friends of the Colorado River!

The Colorado River world got rocked yesterday by a sweeping 86-page ruling from a federal court judge in Denver against the Army Corps of Engineers for approving Denver Water’s massive Gross Dam expansion project. Many media are covering the story today with more coming because this ruling has repercussions across the southwest U.S. and beyond.

We point you to two quick media stories:

The Colorado Sun, title, “Denver’s Gross Reservoir expansion violates Clean Water Act, federal judge rules” (click here).

CBS News, title, “Federal judge finds Gross Reservoir dam expansion to be in violation of environmental law” (click here).

What happens next? The judge ordered the parties to try to reach an agreement on the “remedy” for the violation of federal law, and that process will play out over the next month. We will keep you informed as soon as we have more information.

Save The Colorado is involved in nearly 20 proposed dam and diversion projects throughout the southwest U.S., and this court ruling sets a powerful precedent for protecting rivers and the rule of law.
