BOULDER CREEK PROGRAM
Save The Colorado has an active program around protecting and restoring the Boulder Creek watershed in Boulder County, Colorado. We have identified and committed to these efforts to preserve and protect the watershed:
RIGHTS OF NATURE
We encourage and support efforts to establish legal standing and rights for natural environmental entities including Boulder Creek. We are thrilled that the Town of Nederland passed our Rights of Nature for the Boulder Creek Watershed resolution, and we continue to work with the Town and the surrounding communities to protect Boulder Creek and ensure the Creek’s water quality and quantity is protected. Our Rights of Nature for the Boulder Creek Watershed campaign is currently enthusiastically working to protect the Creek from the threat of mining pollution. We are engaged with the Town of Nederland, Boulder County, and the State to address the threat of mining pollution.
BOULDER CREEK E.COLI MONITORING
Save The Colorado’s team has been involved in sampling, investigating and raising awareness of the E.coli challenges in the watershed, especially in the City of Boulder where the Creek sees huge summer tourism impacts.
COLORADO CLEAN WATER ACT ENFORCEMENT
We are engaged with protecting and enforcing the Federal Clean Water Act, as well as making the Act stronger, to protect the Boulder Creek watershed.
SUPPORTING “SAVE SOUTH BOULDER”
We support and encourage the Save South Boulder organization in their efforts preserve and protect South Boulder Creek and represent the interests of the watershed in the negotiations between the City of Boulder, the University of Colorado and the Colorado Department of Transportation.
