Save The Colorado Update!

Hi Friends of the Colorado River!

Congressman Ben Ray Lujan

Please help us send a BIG Thank You to Congressman Ben Ray Lujan of New Mexico! Congressman Lujan penned an excellent editorial in NMPolitics.net about protecting the San Juan and Colorado Rivers of the Southwest U.S.

Congressman Lujan has been a strong environmental leader in the U.S. House, — this editorial in support of river protection continues to make the case that protecting our rivers protects our economy and culture in the Southwest U.S.

The San Diego Union Tribune had a long and excellent article about the Colorado River in last weekend’s newspaper.  The reporter — Mike Lee — visited the dry Colorado River Delta where the river no longer meets the Gulf of California.  He also put together some excellent graphics describing how demand for the river’s water now exceeds supply. Click here to read the story.

Finally, get ready for Colorado River Day!  On July 25th in 1921, the U.S. Congress named it the Colorado River and we are having a few events around the basin to commemorate the Day and celebrate the river.  Stay tuned for more information.

Thank you for your support of the Colorado River!
