Save The Colorado Challenges FERC Denial in Gross Dam Expansion

Boulder, CO: On Friday, August 31, Save The Colorado challenged the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for denying Save The Colorado’s motion to intervene in the Gross Dam expansion permitting process. Arguing that FERC’s denial “deprived Save The Colorado of its rights to participate in the National Environmental Act process”, Save The Colorado submitted a “request for rehearing” of FERC’s decision.

“FERC has improperly disallowed our organization from due public process,” said Gary Wockner of Save The Colorado. “The Gross Dam expansion would be a massive, environmentally destructive construction process that would have huge negative impacts on the Colorado River, and our organization and its members must be allowed to participate.”

The “Request For Rehearing” is posted here, and was filed within the 30-day window  after FERC’s denial, as allowed by FERC regulations. The Request was prepared by the Law Offices of Carolyn Elefant.
